Unusual wedding gifts

Picture the scene. Two thirtysomething gentlemen in dapper suits on their way home from the office. One has a small, branded bag from the leading department store in this town. He also has a greeting card in a paper bag. After a few moments of chat with his friend about this and that in the office, he produces the card from the bag and I can see from my seat across the aisle that it is a ‘Congratulations on Your Wedding’ card. Eavesdropping quickly confirms that it is for one of their colleagues. “Did you get them a present?” asks the friend. “I did,” says the man with card as he points to the designer paper bag. “I got her perfume.”  “Perfume?” asks the bemused co-worker echoing my sentiments exactly. The question I can’t get out of my mind is whether the gift was intended for the bride or for the groom.
