Salon surprises

After the threading that I blogged about a while ago, I thought it was perhaps time to broaden my horizons on the beauty treatment front so I have been checking out some new service providers. Now that the Celtic Tiger has left Ireland, things are little less predictable in the salons but I have to say I was somewhat confused by this particular establishment. If you can enlighten me on the teeth diamond option I may perhaps go back and make an appointment. Or perhaps, in the interests of safety, I’ll persist with the home treatments for a while.

Bad Luck Comes in Threes?

It’s not even a week since the puncture that led to my investment in the Pirellis (which I mention again even though I am reasonably sure it will lead to a plethora of low cost tyre ads in my sidebar) things have been on a downward spiral. My regular readers know that I got a parking ticket yesterday. The ticket was issued by a very pleasant young woman in uniform and I bear her no ill will. I was relieved, though, when I saw she had completed her round on my route this morning as it meant I could pull up for a minute or two to grab a take out coffee on the way the office. And that’s just what I did. Two minutes I was in the shop. I came back out and found the car had been clamped. Now add the 80euro fine for today to the 40 euro fine for yesterday and the 220euro bill for the Pirellis and you will understand why I am wondering if I can afford to get out of bed tomorrow. We’re not even half way through the week yet. Watch this space.

Fifty-year old Izzy is two weeks old today

It’s exactly two weeks today since the birth of Izzy Muses and what a busy two weeks it has been for this self-taught 50-something blogger. Apart from writing here, I’ve been active on twitter, where I’ve just tweeted my 300th tweet. I’ve added myself to a few big directories like wefollow.com, twittercounter.com and justtweetit.com as well as few local Irish ones, and I’ve joined a couple of blogging communities like theblogfrog.com  I’ve set up Google Analytics so I can track traffic on this site and started a very low-budget ad campaign on Google Adwords. I kind of wanted to run ads on Facebook but I couldn’t do it because they insist on a postal code or zip code and we don’t use those codes here in Ireland. I’m pretty amazed at how much I’ve learned in the last two weeks and also at how much I’ve managed to achieve. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by these pages so far – and especially to those who have left comments (or tried to leave comments – I’ve fixed that bug now). Please come back soon and share your thoughts, tips advice and humour on the menopause and other matters. And, for newbie would-be bloggers like myself, my advice is simple, just sign up at blogger.com and give it a go. It’s terrific fun and very rewarding.
