Some years ago, a chat with my doctor spurred me to take up swimming more as a means to relax than for fitness. I’m not much of a fan of any kind of sport – I just don’t seem to have the balance and coordination that make for any kind of efficiency, so it came as a surprise when I took to swimming – badly, but consistently and with enjoyment. It’s a habit that is enduring rather well.
I’ve learned that the average life expectancy of a swim suit is 3 months if you use it regularly and if said use includes the occasional dip in the Jacuzzi so I’m always in the market for swimwear provided it’s neither too revealing nor too expensive.
For me, the ideal swimsuit is a one piece, single colour outfit that has some bust support, low rise legs, and holds in the tummy and it looks like there might be a new kid on the block with the news that Debenhams has a new ‘Slimsuit’ that apparently creates the illusion of instant inch-loss. It’s supposed to be like Spanx for the swimming pool and the fact that it is sized by bust measurement and dress size sounds promising. It comes in sizes 10-20 and up to an F cup. Colour wise it is available in purple, a chocolate rose print, and a classic black. It’s priced at £45stg on www.debenhams.com at the time of writing and I’m looking forward to giving it a try.
