Creaking joints is one of the more visible and annoying characteristics of reaching the age of menopause and you can’t help feeling if you don’t get to grips with them pretty damn quick that they may become a permanent feature from here on. So, although I am not a fan of New Year Resolutions as a rule, this year I do have one good intention and that is to resurrect my Aero Pilates Stamina JP Pilates Machine and try to use it a couple of times a week.
It’s been safely stored away under the bed in my spare room since August and I am the creakier as a result. Now that the decision has been made, I am looking forward to getting back on to this machine. I know from past experience that within a day or two I will be feeling taller because it helps with posture. I also know that it improves flexibility and gives me a sense of well being. The workouts are fairly easy and you only need to give it about 20-15 minutes at a time to really feel the benefits. For anyone who is overweight and unfit like myself and perhaps thinking of investing in exercise equipment for 2010, Pilates is worth a look. There are other versions of this machine, some with an option to introduce an aerobic element to your exercise. If I had the money I would be thinking about upgrading but I have had this model for the last couple of years and, with the exception of the last few months, I have used it fairly regularly. I find that it also helps me to destress when I get in from work in the evenings.
So now that I’ve shared my plan, there is no going back on it. The new regimen gets under way forthwith.
