The Long, Sweaty Slide to Menopause – Carpe Diem, Ladies. Carpe Diem.

“The Long Sweaty Slide to Menopause”. The headline caught my attention – but not in a good way.

It is a little depressing to find there is a whole industry trying to scare the living daylights out of the menopausal fiftysomethings like you and me. From high bloodpressure and weight gain, to high cholesterol and goodness knows what else, we are at risk of everything – strokes, heart attacks, cancer, alzheimers … You  name it, if you don’t take the right treatment pretty damn quick, there’s no hope for the future.

But, let’s face it,ladies, since time immemorial, women have aged and – shock, horror – there comes a moment when all of us ultimately kick the proverbial bucket. In the meantime, though, surely life is for the living . So my advice is don’t let the scaremongers take the joy out of it. Sure, we ought to take more care of our health. Sure we should exercise and watch what we eat. But we should also remember that we journey this way but once, and life has many pleasures. So it’s okay, ladies, to stop and smell the roses. And if you fancy a bit of dark chocolate or a glass of cabernet sauvignon while you’re at it, don’t let me stop you.

As we say in Ireland, Slainte – Good health! Enjoy!

Yay! Thanks for that one! I needed it.
From everything you hear and read about the M-word, you do think your life is going to be over. What did the women in the old days do without BHRT? If they survived without it, we can too, right?
(in hindsight, they probably didnt live to their fifties…..)
