Some weeks are tougher than others. This one had its share of misery with the punctures, the parking fines and the clamping (i.e. of the car wheels for the benefit of those who are fortunate enought to live far from the clutches of the street clampers of Ireland) while, in the corporate jungle, the tribal leaders were beating their drums as war broke out along departmental lines. It was messy and will get messier as recession puts on the pressure. Sometimes it’s hard to be woman but sometimes it’s a blessing when it means letting others play the power games.
Of course, menopause brings certain power games of its own – sneaking up when you’re not expecting it to send a rush of blood the cheeks, or worse. At such times, and in such circumstances, what’s a girl to do? My surefire remedy this week came courtesy of Molton Brown whose Heavenly Ginger Lily body wash has been my morning ritual and whose scent has stayed with me as a comfort all day long. A touch of luxury and an indulgence to be sure – but sometimes that’s just what’s called for.
