The Triple Goddess – Celebrating your Inner Crone

Woohoo. It’s the weekend and better still, it’s the Halloween bank holiday weekend here in sunny Ireland on the outer edges of the Europe and one step from the fabulous US of A. I am being geographically specific here just in case you’ve forgotten who we are now that recession-ridden Ireland has slipped from the centre of the universe. But, that’s a blog for another day … and another blogger

Let me take as my theme today in honour of the ghostly season and all things pagan, the Triple Goddess. Relax, relax. I’m not going to take you into the mists of time though you are welcome to make that journey should you feel the urge. You can get some pointers here. Suffice for me to clarify only that the triple goddess comprises Virgin, Mother, and Crone; the virgin and mother represent the giving, bearing and nourishing of life. You don’t need me to tell you what the Crone represents. But hey ladies, let’s not be gloomy. Let’s lighten our load by passing on the Virgin and Mother roles asap and let’s rush headlong into Cronedom.

To be a successful crone you will need to equip yourself with a cauldron. Apart from that, and a cantankarous character, you’re good to go. Here are five quick pointers to get you started:

  • Crones are known for their wisdom so be sure to share. Start every sentence with “Have I not told you …”
  • Remember you’re allowed to be rude. Rudeness is part of the new you.
  • Get ready to spend Crone Cash. You’ll accumulated lots of this from what you will be saving on skincare and cosmetics.
  • Throw away the tweezers. You’re allowed grow a beard now should you wish. Beards are totally in for Crones.
  • Use your Crone Cash to buy lots of black gear. You’ll need these rig-outs because attending funerals will be one of your new hobbies. This is a cool way to hang out with other Crones while someone else pays for the tea and sandwiches.

For a much better blog than mine on the subject of Crones, visit Joan Gage.
