Hello.
I’m Izzy, I’m 50, and I think I’ve started the menopause. I say ‘think’ because I haven’t done a test. I do have a test – they had them right next to the pregnancy tests in the supermarket – but I haven’t got round to doing it yet. For one thing, when I read the instructions they sounded darned complicated. The stuff about timing put me right off. For another, I haven’t the faintest idea what you do if the test comes up positive. Is it time to start hitting the shops in search of cardigans and flat shoes? Or go the other direction and risk becoming mutton dressed as lamb?
What I can tell you is that, so far, my experience of the menopause – if I’m in it – hasn’t been too bad. A few mood swings, the occasional hot flush or flash depending on what part of the world you’re in, a missed period here and there. But it’s certainly a change and I get the feeling I’ll be seeing more change over the coming months.
The purpose of this blog is to share my story. So here I am on Platform 50 all set and ready to go. I hope you’ll climb on board and travel with me. Oh – and before you do – would you mind asking someone if they can turn down the heating? It’s very hot in here.
